Another month . None of our regulars surfaced for long and we plod along
June is here, the Monsoon clouds are around, Kerala has started getting rains in abundance, Bangalore has been treated to some unprecedented showers and development woes...Coonoor is not far behind but the dams are still to fill up.. ...The month begins with a nasty train accident one of the biggest in years, On 2 June 2023, three trains collided near the city of Balasore, in the state of Odisha in eastern India. Two passenger trains, the 12841 Coromandel Express and the 12864 SMVT Bengaluru–Howrah SF Express, collided with a goods train near the Bahanaga Bazar railway station. Preliminary investigations indicate that the Coromandel Express had accidentally entered the loop line and crashed into a goods train parked there just ahead of the Bahanagar Bazar station. Meanwhile the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express capsized after crashing into the scattered coaches of Coromandel Express on the adjacent track. 290 feared dead and more than a 1000 injured.
