Orbituary
One of our star performers of the late 70s and early 80s, a naughty young man, a star athlete and brightest student, one with enviable adventures of running away from School, Dr. Manimaran, M.,S. F.R.C.S, 60 years, residing at No:6, 9th cross street, Bodinayanur passed away at 1:15 PM on 28 October 2022.

 Some Tributes
Many of us who did not know him built a mental profile of him through exchanges on this group. It was of a very talented, affable, handsome achiever, well-liked by both his peers and teachers. He once did mention that his health was troubling him. Sad to know that  he has passed on.- Teddy Mani
A very sad day. I still remember the young picture of his. He was a true all rounder and to me like how a hero would be portrayed in a novel. He was academically brilliant, outstanding in sports, naughty as hell, had all the vices, teachers loved him, juniors adored him, I assume girls had a crush on him…. I wanted to get him to talk to us through zoom and share his view of school life. Unfortunately it was not to be. How he remembered Jawahar and tip he gave him on how to let the ball come to him… he had the humility. I was 7 years his junior but I still remember or thought he knew who I was. I was in his house. If my memory serves me correct during his times Stanes democratically elected the Captain and Vice Captain. There would be nominations and then election by show of hands. He was Captain for 3 years I think. The process changed after that and house teachers selected one. I remember him visiting school when he was doing his medicine in Madras. He met with Mr Dawson and I remember seeing a packet of 555 in Mr Dawson’s picket that evening. I am sure the last few years were immensely hard on him. While he told us when he joined the group that he was unwell he did not go into the details or even keep talking about it. If he knew his end was near he may have sent us a message but he was a fighter. I am sure Mr Dawson has already welcomed him and they are sharing a puff. It was great to know of him in School and have the opportunity to reconnect for a year or so. Thank you Mani. You have been an inspiration. Om Shanti.- Ramesh Giri
